Tottenham Women defender Maeson King signs contract extension after battling through a long-term injury. King, 20, has been a key player for the club's U21s and U18s, and will now continue to play for the development squad. King was delighted with his new contract and pointed to experienced defender Ben Davies' help in settling him into the first team environment. Davies has also had a season blighted by an ankle injury and is set to have his own contract extended by the north London club. King joined Spurs a decade ago as a 10-year-old and after going full-time as a scholar in 2022, he was part of the north London club's squad that won both the Under-17 and Under-18 Premier League Cup double in the 2022/23 season under Stuart Lewis. The defender then penned his first professional contract midway through the 2023/24 campaign and later in that season he ended up playing a key role in the defence to help Wayne Burnett's Under-21s side lift the Premier League 2 title. A long term injury kept King out of action for much of this season until January this year, but he returned to play eight of the remaining matches on the left side of the U21s' back line. King has played more than 78 games for Tottenham's U21s and U18s over recent years and will now get the chance to continue as one of the older heads in the development squad.
